The Golf GTI.

Racy and attacking. That’s the Golf GTI with lowered sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels in “Denver” design. The special radiator grille with its black-painted honeycomb structure framed by two red strips is a hallmark feature of the GTI. The brake callipers for the 16-inch disc brakes likewise sport a signal red finish. Apart from the black-grained sill extensions and the two exhaust tailpipes on the left and right of the black diffuser, the roof spoiler and exclusive body-coloured bumpers also help to give the exterior its sporty flair.

It is the heart of the Golf GTI. The 2.0l TSI engine beats at a thrilling 155 kW (210 hp) and races from standstill to 100 km in 6.9 seconds – and on to a top speed of up to 240 km/h (fuel consumption: 7.3 – 7.4 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 170 - 173 g/km)*. For anyone wishing to save themselves the chore of changing gear, there is the option of the DSG six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. When you're travelling in such a sporty manner, you don't want to worry about your safety. The electronic stabilisation program (ESP), which includes convenience brake assist system, steering impulse, ABS, EDL, TCS traction control and XDL, will give you optimum support on every journey.

The striking looks of the Golf GTI start in the cockpit, featuring a flat-bottomed leather-trimmed sports steering wheel with curved GTI inlay and badge. There is an equally sporty and premium feel throughout the rest of the interior: from the aluminium-look gear lever knob and pedals, through the "Black Stripe" inlays, to the chrome-plated surrounds and trim on features such as the air vents. Whereas black is the colour used for the headlining and post panelling, there are splashes of signal red on the leather-trimmed steering wheel, handbrake lever and gearshift lever gaiter in the form of decorative seams.

The top sports seats in the front with integral head restraint and lumbar support make driving the Golf GTI a particularly comfortable experience. They are also height-adjustable and heated, and come with handy seat backrest pockets. They are pretty impressive to look at too, thanks to the eye-catching “Jacky” check upholstery. For even greater comfort, there are a total of four reading lights and a front centre armrest including stowage box, two air vents and two cup holders. The “Plus” multifunction display provides the driver with a perfect overview.

The Golf GTI gives you all the freedom you need – whether it’s for setting your preferred temperature, playing your favourite tracks or enjoying some quick refreshments. This is all thanks to the “Climatronic” air conditioning with 2-zone temperature control, the “RCD 210” radio and the glove compartment with cooling facility. To ensure that you don’t lose any of that sense of freedom whatever the weather, the Golf GTI includes front fog lights with chrome surrounds as well as a headlight washer system. The ParkPilot with audible warnings from sensors at the front and rear means a greater sense of space when parking. Finally, the sound generator promises a mind-clearing listening experience with its rich acoustics.
